මිහිර කොයිබද?
හිරු රැස් විහිදමින් බැබලෙන ගුවන මත
නිල්වන් වලා පටලය පා වෙමින් ඇත
උනුසුම් සිහිල් සුලඟේ දැවටෙමින් ගත
මා පිය නැඟිමි සුපුරුදු ලෙස උයන වෙත
පෙරදින පිපුනු පියකරු මල් පරව ගොසින්
හිරු රැස් දිලෙයි නව දළු මල් කැකුළු වෙතින්
නව දිනයකට ආසිරි මල් සලන ලෙසින්
බඹරුන් රඟති පිබිදෙන මල් කැකුළු මතින්
බඹරුනි පිපුනු මල් වෙත කොහි සිට එන්නේ
හමු වූ පසුත් ඇයි ඒ මල් හැර යන්නේ
ඇයි මේ තරම් දුර ගෙවමින් වෙහෙසෙන්නේ
කොයිබද ඔබ සොයන සැනසුම පවතින්නේ
පිපුනු මලත්, මල් කැකුලත් අතර සිට
බඹරුනි, යොමු කලේ මා ලෝ දහමක ට
පැතුමත් පැතූ දේ ලැබුමත් අතර සිට
මිහිරේ ඔබව හඳුනා ගත හැකිය මට

Clouds were drifting slowly above
The blooming sun was making the blue sky shine brilliantly
As the swift warm breeze was kissing me
I strode along, towards the garden
Beautiful flowers that blossomed the day before
Have perished by now
In their place, new flowers and buds were blossoming
And shining with twinkling rays
To bless the dawn of a new day,
Bees were dancing over the blooming flowers
“Whither thou cometh dear bee, to find these blossoming flowers?
Having met, why do you leave them, so soon?
Why do you endure so much, to come from so far, far, away?
Whither is the joy, the pleasure that you seek?
Seeing a bee hovering between a flower bud
and a blossomed flower next to it
I discerned a fundamental law of nature
Oh, joy, pleasure or whatever you call yourself,
I find you in the transient stage between
The act of wishing and accomplishment of the wish.
