Just a little blind kid

Flowers are beautiful, so they say,
Look, look along the path way,
See so many colours bright,
Red, yellow, blue, pink and white.

Flowers have a sweet, sweet smell,
That I do know very well,
Their softness too, I can tell,
But their colours baffle like hell!

This thing called colour, I neither feel nor hear,
Please tell me why, Mommy dear?
What do "look" and "see" mean, oh so unclear,
Are they things we do to items near?

I am just a little blind kid, they say,
Will I see, when I’m bigger someday?
The day is warmer than the night,
But what is this thing they call light?

I know the sweet scent of flowers ,
But not their rainbow of colours.
How would I know beautiful things?
Stars that twinkle or rainbows in springs

Are those tears dripping down my arm?
Mom, dear mom I meant no harm.
Because of what I say, please do not cry
For other kids, sometimes they lie!
