Seven Seas

Seven Seas

Shaun Dissanayake
2023-June

I would sail the seven seas to see the love of my land.
I would sail the seven seas to be among my people.
I would sail the seven seas to be liberated by the virtue and the crippling financial debt that has wrapped me in metaphorical shackles.
To step foot on the shores of sands that are golden by appearance.
An where coconut trees over hang and lean.
I am keen to set sail to the land my ancestors called home.
I would circumnavigate the world for my home.
A island that is far.
Use the star to guide me home.
Like the sailor’s of old.
I would sail the seven seas to see the love of my land.
I would sail the seven seas to be among my people.
The smell of the fresh sea breeze takes me home a far of land where I can stand amongst my people and be greeted as an equal.
I would sail the seven seas to see the love of my land.
I would sail the seven seas to be among my people.
But that is a dream that remains to be seen.
One day I will return to my ancestral home.
