නිදහස කුමටද ? Whither Freedom
අඩ බෙර ගහනවා, වීදි සරසනව Drums a beating, streets adorned
පෙළපාලියෙ සිහ දජය ඔසවනව Masses throng, Lion flag waving
ත්‍රිවිද සේනා දස්කම් රඟනව Triple armed forces with fanciful displays
හැත්තැ පහක නිදහස ගැන කියනව . Proclaiming 75 yrs of Freedom.
දරුවට පොවන්න කිරිපිටි නැත්නම් If there is no milk for the infants
සා ගින්නට හරි වේලක් නැත්නම් If there is no food to relieve the hungry
පාසැල් අරින්න පොත් පත් නැත්නම් If there is no books for kids schooling
ඉන්න හිටින්නට වහලක් නැත්නම් If there is no roof over their heads
විලි වහගන්නට රෙදි කඩ නැතිනම් If there are no clothes to wear
කුමටද අද මේ සමරණ නිදහස ? Why celebrate this Freedom?
බටහිර ලෝකෙන් මිදුනෙ මේකටද ? Was freedom from the West won for this
ආගම් බෙදලා, ජාතිය බෙදලා Dividing the Nation with religion & race
අපේ පාලකයො කලේ ඒකමද? All rulers have done the same
ණය පිට ණය සිරිලක මත පටවා Mounting debt upon crippling debt
පරදීසියම සූරාගත් කැල Fleecing the assets of a Paradise Island
සුකෝපභෝගී වෙන වෙන තල වල Enjoy luxuriant living on a different plane
අසරණ ජනයා කවදත් පීඩිත Whilst the masses are internally trodden
තව කී කලකට මෙය ඉවසන්නද ? How long can they tolerate this doom?
